Our Stories, Our Strengths - Standing Together

An evening of conversation, support, and story-gathering at YMCA Walla Walla

Thursday, September 4
6 to 7 p.m.
RSVP here by Sept. 2

YWCA will partner with Sarah Magill of TheReelSarah.com, a domestic violence survivor and digital content creator who coaches entrepreneurs on social media presence. Sarah contributed to Believe Beyond: Discover the Power of Unwavering Belief, a collection of inspiring women’s stories that challenges readers to consider: What if belief was the only thing standing between you and your dreams?

I didn’t go through hell, learn all these lessons, just so I could be quiet and keep to myself...I hope someone reads my story and thinks, if she can do it, I can do it
— Sarah Magill, author
To tell your story is an act of both courage and generosity...Sharing your journey can be a lifeline for others who are still struggling. Your story can help someone walk away from violence
— Lana Bushman, YWCA Client Services Director

Join us at a come-and-go reception with light refreshments, and engage in thoughtful conversations about “green flags” in healthy relationships as well as “red flags” that can be easy to miss.

An ad in NYC Times Square celebrated the successful launch of Believe Beyond: Discovering the Power of Unwavering Belief. Pictured is Sarah Magill, one of the featured authors.

Sarah will collaborate with YWCA throughout September to help capture survivor stories and will share her own story, one  she is quick to promise has a happy ending.

Survivors attending Our Stories, Our Strength are invited to share their stories in whatever way feels most comfortable—whether anonymously, in writing, or through audio or video recording. YWCA Advocates will be on hand to offer support.

Together, we honor not only lives lost but also lives rebuilt—and the rising voices of survivors.
