JOB TITLE: Child Care Teacher’s Assistant and Cook
REPORTS TO: Child Care Center Director
- Hourly, non-exempt
- Part-time, flexible hours
- Must be available during center operating hours,
7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday- Friday
- High school education.
- Love for and some experience working with children.
- Have or obtain portable Washington State DEL background check – see note below.
- Have or obtain current First Aid, CPR, AIDS/HIV, food handlers, and TB test cards– see note below.
- Employment contingent upon passage of criminal background check.
- Employment contingent upon a negative TB test.
JOB PURPOSE/ OBJECTIVE
To assist director and lead teachers in planning and implementing YWCA childcare program for children ages 1-5.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide professional representation for the YWCA with parents and children in YWCA child care centers.
- Embrace and espouse the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
- Help facilitate activities; including supply preparation, set up and clean up as needed.
- Interact with children on an individual level and in small and large groups.
- Ensure the supervision, care, and safety of children at all times.
- Complete necessary forms and documentation in a timely manner
- Prepare, serve, and clean up snacks and other meals if needed.
- Assist in assuring sanitation standards meet all YWCA, state, and federal requirements.
- Monitor daily health and behavior of children.
- Set an example of conduct and personal habits.
- Follow YWCA policies and procedures.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Complete STARS application and DEL background check process through the MERIT system as soon as employment starts.
- Obtain and keep current First Aid, CPR, AIDS/HIV/blood borne pathogens, Washington State food handlers, and TB test cards, as well as any other new requirements, including but not limited to DEL Portable Background check and STARS certifications. (NOTE: employee must obtain at own expense; YWCA will assist in keeping current.)
- Ability to maintain the center at or above YWCA, community, State, and federal standards.
- Ability to work with diverse populations with an outgoing, friendly, and welcoming manner.
- Ability to develop a harmonious working relationship with supervisors, managers, employees, and the general public
- Flexible work style that can accommodate diverse needs of children, work interruptions, and crisis calls.

- YWCA Retirement Fund: 10% employer-paid with 4% match by fund.
- Employee may contribute up to 10%, after tax, in addition.
- Eligible after working 1,000 hours in two twelve-month periods
