Thursday evening, Sept. 17, YWCA board members and supporters gathered to reflect on the YWCA mission and have a great time doing good.
The sold-out event brought in more than $80,000, and thanks to sponsorships by Basel Cellars, Banner Bank, Bizarre Love Triangle, Columbia REA, and Swire Coca-Cola Bottling Co., dozens of generously donated gifts for the silent and live auctions and wine wall, and ticket sales, donations to the event can go right to work helping women and children in YWCA programs.
Jet Titus made his second appearance as auctioneer and kept the crowd laughing. Also making a second appearance: A $25,000 matching donation to the auctions.
In addition to lively bidding on all items, including weekend getaways, wine valley experiences, and personal services, the crowd enjoyed live music, catered hors d’ouevres, and stunning hilltop views.
One of many creative auction packages was the chance to spend a day as a production assistant, donated by MJB Productions. This group of women who make films are working on a feature film about domestic violence and will be visiting Walla Walla in November to preview their “proof of concept” film trailer. After the auctions, guests viewed video messages from our childcare and shelter directors as well as from YWCA program alumnae—the Fun Factory’s Megan Moberg and Mariposa’s Lyndsey Wilson. They spoke about their dreams for girls and the YWCA’s commitment to investing in those dreams. View the video here.
