Members of local Faith Community take unprecedented stand against domestic violence!
Several years ago, the leaders of the faith community in the Touchet Valley joined together to discuss domestic and sexual violence. These leaders met for over a year, learning about the topics, their incidence in their community, and how faith communities can respond when congregants experience violence.
One of the products of their meeting and reflection was the following statement that has since been used as an example by the Faith Trust Institute, an organization that seeks to collaborate to develop and promote resources from our faith traditions which promote safety, justice and healing and to address those which may present roadblocks to ending sexual and domestic violence. For more on the Faith Trust Institute, see their website: www.faithtrustinstitute.org
To read the Statement Concerning Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault please download the attachment on below. Statements and views expressed in the article represent those of the article's authors and not necessarily the views of the YWCA or YWCA employees.
We are grateful for the members' attention to such an important topic. Never have any members of our local faith community come together to state so clearly the recognition that domestic violence and sexual assault are real problems in our area. Thank you for your support!!!

You Helped Pass A Comprehensive DV Bill!
The legislative session is finally over! Thanks to each of you for your hard work to educate legislators about the importance of the comprehensive HB 2777, as well as how vital GAU (Disability Lifeline) and the Housing Trust Fund are for DV survivors. Domestic violence shelter program funding was also preserved and domestic violence legal advocacy funding was reduced by only 1.8%.
