Advocacy

YWCA Walla Walla provides advocacy services to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault as they navigate difficult and often overwhelming systems.

Our advocates walk alongside survivors, offering guidance, resources, and compassionate support. This includes direct advocacy, medical advocacy, and legal advocacy. Through these services, the YWCA empowers survivors to make informed decisions and move forward with confidence and support.

  • Direct Advocacy

Through direct advocacy, the YWCA stands beside survivors to ensure their voices are heard and their rights are upheld. Advocates provide one-on-one support, help navigate complex systems, and connect survivors with resources and services that meet their immediate and long-term needs. This personalized approach empowers survivors to take the next steps toward safety and healing.

  • Medical Advocacy

YWCA Walla Walla provides medical advocacy to support survivors during exams and treatment. Our advocates offer compassion, information, and guidance to help individuals feel safe, informed, and empowered in healthcare settings.

  • Legal Advocacy

YWCA Walla Walla offers legal advocacy to support survivors navigating the justice system. We provide guidance, accompaniment, and resources to help individuals understand their rights and access the protections they need.

  • Systems Advocacy

Direct support of local women and families is key, but our clients also need us to change unjust policies and laws. That’s why YWCA also works for long-term, systemic change. This includes engaging with elected officials, supporting equitable childcare and housing policies, and ensuring survivors’ voices are heard in decisions that affect their lives.
